Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to TimestampCamera by Into Hash ("we," "our," or "us"). TimestampCamera is a camera application that burns a timestamp, location, and related information directly onto the photos and videos you capture. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the application.

The short version: your photos and videos never leave your device. They are captured, stamped, and stored locally. We do not upload, host, or have any access to your media.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the application.

2. Camera and Microphone Access

The application requests access to your device's camera to take photos and record videos, and to your microphone to record audio as part of a video.

• On-Device Processing: The stamp is composited onto your photo or video entirely on your device. No frame, image, or audio track is transmitted to us or to any third party for processing.
• No Live Streaming: The camera preview is never recorded or transmitted; it exists only while you have the capture screen open.
• Permission Control: You may revoke camera or microphone access at any time in your device settings. The application cannot capture without camera permission.

3. Location Data

If you enable a location-based stamp, the application collects precise GPS coordinates so that latitude, longitude, altitude, and a place name can be printed onto your capture.

• Foreground Only: Location is collected only while the application is open and in use. We do not request or hold background location permission, and the application does not track your location when it is closed or in the background.
• Local Storage: Your most recent position is cached on your device so that a stamp is available immediately the next time you open the app. This cache stays on your device.
• Burned Into Your Media: Once stamped, the location becomes part of the image or video itself. If you later share that file, the location visible in the stamp travels with it. This is the purpose of the app, and it is worth keeping in mind before sharing a capture publicly.
• Optional: Location stamping can be turned off in the app's stamp settings, and you may decline or revoke the location permission entirely. The camera continues to work without it.

4. Place Names and Reverse Geocoding

To display a human-readable place name (for example, a city or district) rather than raw coordinates, the application sends your coordinates to Nominatim, the geocoding service operated by the OpenStreetMap project, and receives a place name in return.

• Only the coordinates are sent. No photo, video, device identifier, or account information is included in the request.
• Results are cached on your device so that repeated lookups for the same area do not generate new requests.
• This request is made only when location stamping is active.

5. Network Time

So that the timestamp on your capture is accurate even if your device clock has drifted or been changed, the application requests the current UTC time from a public time service (worldtimeapi.org). This request contains no personal information, no identifier, and no location — only a request for the current time. As with any network request, the service necessarily sees the IP address it is called from.

6. Device Sensors

The application reads your device's magnetometer and motion sensors to determine compass heading, which can be included in the stamp. Sensor readings are used in the moment, on your device, and are never transmitted or stored by us.

7. Photos, Videos, and On-Device Storage

• App Storage: Captures are written to the application's private storage area on your device, where the in-app gallery reads them.
• Photo Library: When you choose to save or export a capture, it is written to your device's photo library. This requires photo library permission and happens only at your request.
• Importing: If you choose to import an existing photo, the application reads only the file you select. It does not scan, index, or upload your photo library.
• Settings: Your stamp and capture preferences are stored locally on your device.
• Deletion: Deleting a capture in the app removes it from app storage. A copy you have already exported to your photo library must be deleted there as well. Uninstalling the application removes everything it stored on the device.

8. Account and Sign-In

Creating an account is optional. The application is fully functional without signing in. If you do choose to sign in, we offer:

• Google Sign-In
• Sign in with Apple
• Email (a one-time code sent to your address)

Through these methods we receive basic profile information — typically your name, email address, and profile picture — in accordance with your settings on those platforms. Accounts are managed for us by Supabase, which hosts the authentication database.

We use this information only to create and authenticate your account. Signing in does not upload your photos or videos. There is no cloud backup or sync of your captures; your media remains on your device regardless of whether you are signed in.

9. Analytics

To understand how the application is used and where it can be improved, we collect product analytics through Amplitude. This covers events such as opening the app, taking a capture, changing a setting, viewing a screen, or encountering an error, along with basic device and app-version information.

• No Media: Analytics never include your photos, videos, or the contents of a stamp.
• No Precise Location: We do not send your GPS coordinates to our analytics provider.
• Identity: If you are signed in, analytics are associated with your account so that your usage is not double-counted across devices. If you are not signed in, usage is recorded against an anonymous device identifier.

Opting Out

You can turn analytics off at any time from inside the application:

Turning this off stops analytics collection. Every feature of the application remains fully available either way.

10. Crash and Error Reporting

We use Sentry to receive automatic reports when the application crashes or hits an error. A report contains diagnostic information such as the error and its stack trace, the device model, operating-system version, and application version. It does not contain your photos, videos, or location coordinates. We use these reports solely to find and fix defects.

11. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: With third-party vendors who process data on our behalf: Supabase (account authentication), Amplitude (product analytics), and Sentry (crash and error reporting). Authentication is additionally provided by Google and Apple when you choose those sign-in methods.
• Geocoding: With OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, which receives coordinates in order to return a place name, as described in Section 4.
• Legal Compliance: If required by law or to protect our rights.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, sale, or asset transfer.

12. No Advertising

TimestampCamera contains no advertising. The application does not include an advertising SDK, does not display banner, interstitial, or rewarded ads, does not read or transmit your advertising identifier (the Google Advertising ID on Android or Apple's IDFA on iOS), and does not share data with advertising networks or data brokers.

13. Data Retention and Deletion

Captures, settings, and cached data live on your device for as long as you keep them, and are removed when you delete them or uninstall the application. If you have created an account, we retain your account information for as long as that account is active.

Deleting Your Account

You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. To do so, please contact us at contact@intohash.online with the subject line "Account Deletion Request".

Upon deletion, your account information will be permanently removed from our active databases. Because your photos and videos are never uploaded, there is nothing of yours for us to delete on the media side — deleting them on your device is sufficient.

14. Children's Privacy

TimestampCamera is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware of such collection, we will take steps to delete the information immediately.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this policy periodically.
